So far, Prime Minister Giorgos Papandreou was shy on this thorny question: Now he’s threatening the Germans suddenly!

For the first time the bankruptcy is now prime minister, the question of compensation known as «open».

In the case of the cases he will make corresponding demands.

This means that Germany should refuse to grant the Greeks, Papandreou wants compensation for Nazi atrocities!

Background: Germany rejects reparations has categorically.

In 1953, the London Debt Agreement, the settlement of German reparations postponed until after completion of a «formal peace treaty.» In the context of dismantling, supplies, or the seizure of foreign assets flowed billion.

About the International Reparations Greece got a part. In addition, in 1960 was a German-Greek Treaty for the compensation of Greek victims of Nazi terror closed by the Federal Republic. In addition, in 1960 was a German-Greek Treaty for the compensation of Greek victims of Nazi terror closed by the Federal Republic. It flowed 115 million marks. In the 1990s, Greek slave laborers were also compensated by the Foundation «Remembrance, Responsibility and Future».

The moratorium was established in 1990 in London redundant by the «Two Plus Four Treaty» to reunification. According to the Federal Government, under him that the question of reparations by the will of the parties should not be regulated, and have the then Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe (CSCE), members states – including Greece – in the Charter of Paris little later approved. But there are experts who argue that the signatories to the treaty only «took note» and the question of compensation is therefore simply not yet been clarified.

Prime Minister Giorgos Papandreou and other  Greek organizations Papandreou demanding huge sums of money. The former Greek resistance fighter Manolis Glezos and politicians as advocates with its «National Council for the use of German debt» for reparations.

In 2003, the Federal Court rejected claims in a landmark ruling by four Greeks: the survivors’ claims could be «neither the law nor derived from the German public liability law.»
In any case, Berlin, relies on the Hague Regulations, that the question of reparations is not only regulate interstate and private persons. And Athens has never actually been called for reparations.

Perhaps one way out: The former Federal President Johannes Rau had suggested in 2000 as a symbolic gesture of Germany.
